Motivation?

So the past few weeks have been incredibly difficult for me. My husband left for MOS school on February 23rd. He's training to change his MOS to Security Forces. So he's been in Virginia for close to a month now, and in that time... I have just not been myself. I've lost friends, neglected sleep, neglected the gym, and I just haven't been taking care of myself.. I was completely unmotivated. I WANTED to be motivated.. and some days I'd even have a little spark of drive to go to the gym and get back into the swing of things.. But it wasn't sticking. Well I woke up yesterday morning feeling extra guilty about the way things have been. So i pulled out the yogurt, said adios to Toaster Strudels, and said a big Hello to Jillian Michael's 30-day shred (although I would have liked to tell her a little something else.. lol). Yesterday, I managed to get through all of Level 1 and I thought my heart was going to stop. lol my legs were jelly, i couldn't breathe, and I just wanted to take a hot bath. But it felt good to be proud of something again. :) Proud that I made it through the entire first level when the first few times I attempted it, I stopped after like the first 8 minutes. lol Then today, I did it again and got through Level 1 with a little less difficulty. I was exhausted, heart pounding, but I didn't think I would die! lol So that's a plus.

I think what sparked my motivation back up is Shay Carl. I know, I know. I'm a nerdy YouTuber. lol but really. If you don't know who Shay Carl is, he is a YouTubing dad who is probably one of the most inspirational people I know of. Using YouTube videos as a tool, he started his own production company, became completely debt free, and just recently lost over 100 pounds in a weight loss video competition. A year ago, this guy was nearly 300 pounds and would get winded playing with his kids. Yesterday morning, he ran a freaking MARATHON! Unbelievable, truly amazing. He is the kind of person I want to be. Someone who sticks to goals, reaches them, inspires, and knows that his life is on the right track. So because I want to be just like Shay Carl, I'm back at it! Workout out, eating better, and taking care of myself. :) I'm down a total of 7 pounds since I started this whole thing. I still have a LONG way to go.. but at least I'm doing it..

and I'm going to continue to blog it all! Don't worry ;) Here's a few things you can look forward to--
-more thoughts on 30-day shred
-Shakeology?
-Foodie pen pals
and perhaps a few other nifty things :)

Thank you to all my readers, for caring enough to read what I have to say. And thank you to those bloggers who I can't seem to get enough of that always keep me motivated and wanting to do more. :)

  1. That's awesome! We should all try to be like Shay Carl - he's a great motivation. I recently made a lifestyle change too about a year ago, working out 7 days a week and eating a lot healthier, and it's definitely tough at times but I feel so much better and rejuvenated.

    Keep up the good work!

    1. I agree, we should all try to be like him :) and that's wonderful! I've been going back and forth on just how far I want to take this lifestyle change. The more I read blogs and listen to stories, the more I would LOVE to become a vegetarian. But I just love meat.. haha so for now, I'm just adding a lot of raw, fresh produce into my diet, smaller portions, and eating the right times of day. I work out about 6 day a week (sometimes I take the whole weekend off, if I worked extra hard during the week) and that is a million times better than what I WAS doing! haha That's another thing Shay Carl always says that keeps me motivated. "You don't have to change everything you've ever known in 1 day. just eat better than you WERE eating. be more active than you WERE being. and you'll see results" so that's been my mantra. I may not be where I want to be fitness wise or health wise, but I'm better than I WAS. :) lol sorry for the little novel. haha

  2. Good for you, Quinn!! I was doing so good for a couple weeks and lost 4 pounds..then I got sick, had no desire to eat right or exercise and I haven't gotten back on track. I'm afraid to look at the scale and see that I've gained that weight back. I lose motivation so easily. When you get down here we should totally be workout buddies! (if you end up in the Norfolk area that is). Keep up the good work.

    1. It's definitely tough when you take a break from it, lol so no worries, I totally get it. I don't know how many times I've started to make a change, and then I get sick, or get busy, or lose motivation, and I'm so scared of looking at the scale that I just give up! and then 6 months later I finally look at the scale and I want to kick myself for giving up because since then I've GAINED! lol and ABSOLUTELY! I would love to be work out buddies when I move there! we find out in less than 3 weeks where we'll be! Brent's ssgt said he thinks the NCOs will all be in Norfolk, so I'm hoping he's right! lol :) that would be awesome :) and thank you, Robin. I'll keep doing what I'm doing, and hopefully you can find a little motivation through me :)
